On 12 and 13 March, EUROPE DIRECT Salerno will take part in the general meeting in Brussels, which will bring together over 400 EUROPE DIRECT centres active across the European Union.
The event will bring together representatives of the network to exchange best practices on how to promote democratic dialogue in Europe and coordinate local strategies for the coming years.
The two-day meeting will open with a video message from the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen. The programme will also include workshops and discussions with officials from the European Commission and the European Parliament.
The event will also mark the launch of the new generation of EUROPE DIRECT centres, the European Commission’s network that serves as a direct point of contact with citizens at local level, engaging communities and partners in dialogue on how European policies affect daily life.
In the coming years, the network will place even greater emphasis on the theme of democracy. EUROPE DIRECT centres will increasingly serve as local spaces for meeting and discussion on Europe.
For the period 2026–2030, 315 centres have been renewed, whilst 85 new centres have joined the EUROPE DIRECT network across the European Union.
EUROPE DIRECT Salerno, coordinated by Moby Dick ETS across the province of Salerno, is set to begin its second term, continuing to engage with the local area, listen to residents and bring Europe closer to local communities, from the provincial capital to the inland areas of the province.
